Ramadan 2022

Ramadan 2022

Ramadan is the most anticipated month of the year in the Islamic calendar. For Muslims it represents a time for spiritual reflection and growth. A chance to help those in need and to spend more time focused on loved ones. It is characterised by a fast during daylight hours, for those who are of age and healthy, and the longer additional Tarawih prayers during the night.

The beginning and end of Ramadan changes every year, as the Islamic lunar calendar is based on the moon cycles rather than the traditional Gregorian calendar. The first day of Ramadan is generally determined by the sighting of the new crescent moon by religious leaders in each locality. Although Muslims wait for appearance of the new moon before announcing the first day of Ramadan, we can estimate the arrival and often do so to be able to prepare mentally for such a powerful month.

When is Ramadan 2022?

Ramadan is expected to begin Saturday April 2nd 2022 and end with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday May 1st. The month of Ramadan will last between 29 /30 days, depending on when the new crescent moon is sighted.

If you’re Muslim, may Allah make your next Ramadan productive and rewarding.

Ameen.
